October of 2003
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Martial Artists KICK Juvenile Crime & World Record
On Saturday, October 18, 2003, National Martial Arts Day, thousands of martial artists across the United States will be attempting to break a World Record for the most kicks executed in one hour simultaneously across the country. They will also be raising money for Project Action to fight juvenile crime and keep children out of gangs.
National Martial Arts Day was created by The National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA) to promote martial arts training throughout the country. The Project Action Foundation is a national award-winning children's charity whose mission is to prevent juvenile crime by providing disadvantaged and "at-risk" children the opportunity to become involved in physical and cultural arts programs, working with martial arts, dance and gymnastics schools.
The current World Record was set in October 2000 and stands at 4.7 million kicks performed in one hour. The martial arts school listed below will be representing our city during this historic event.

CDT Non-Deadly Certification

July/ August 2003

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Editorial Contacts:
James Walsh, Charm City Kenpo Karate, 410-628-4994, james@CharmCityKarate.com

James Walsh is Certified as a Tactical Master Instructor in The CDT Method of Personal and Family Protection

Cockeysville, Maryland, 8/12/2003 - James Walsh has been certified as a Tactical Master Instructor in the CDT Non-Deadly Force method. The CDT Method has proven to be one of the most complete justifiable methods of Empty Handed Control and Last resort Weapon Disarms used in today's liability-conscious world. This internationally trademarked and PATENT PENDING non-deadly force system is used by personnel throughout the world that have a need for safe, proven, and justifiable force. CDT Immediate Response Techniques which encompass personal well being, subject safety and full circle liability have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Law and Technology, Crain's Business, The Star Ledger, and on Good Morning America, Inside Edition, CNN, A & E, Bloomberg, Good Day NY and The Ananda Lewis Show. But most of all, CDT techniques ensure the most proficient form of direct compliance or last resort weapon disarms needed in today's unpredictable and sometimes hostile world.

CDT is the most efficient and the safest method of legal submission known to date. Tens of thousands swear by its results in controlling uncooperative subjects or disarming armed assailants. When executed with proper positioning and technique, CDT will help ensure the well being of all individuals while minimizing the potential liability risk to the individual(s) and/or their respective organization(s). CDT specializes in second and third party entry techniques that can be used to safe haven a family member or another fellow human being. CDT has proven to be crucial to anyone who has considered any type of self, subject, or client defense training where liability issues are of a crucial concern.

Your future may be jeopardized due to a lack of proper training or insufficient training that may target you in a criminal and/or civil case for excessive or inappropriate use of force. CDT techniques are direct and simple techniques that can be mastered in a relatively short time. The fact is, it is far easier to apply techniques that inflict needless harm on a person than it is to legally and justifiably control them.

"It was stressed and emphasized throughout my CDT certification training that the least amount of force that is necessary in any given situation should be utilized," stated James. "Each technique was demonstrated, and then applied over and over to allow the trainees to employ the least amount of force that is reasonable to control a situation at hand. Needless to say that after a few days of both applying CDT techniques and having them applied on me, I was amazed at how easily an individual could be controlled without being injured."

CDT also unveiled its Family Protection Training, which is a realistic approach to training that focuses on the role each individual family member executes during a violent altercation. The training also covers the options available to a family when they are trained as a complete unit. CDT Family Protection is a full circle training course that includes verbal diffusion, cover and evacuation techniques taught in conjunction with proper use of force techniques as they pertain to the situation at hand. CDT Family Protection Training was developed to increase the survival factor for the victims while decreasing the margin of error to all individuals involved.

The CDT System is widely acknowledged as a break-through and innovative method of lawful non-deadly force training. CDT has been described as the successor to current methods and techniques that may have exposed individuals, organizations and law enforcement agencies to costly lawsuits and have resulted in a lack of public confidence.

If you are interested in participating in the next CDT Non Deadly Force Training course or the CDT Family Protection course you can call the CDT Non-Deadly Force Training Center at 410-628-4994 or email cdtinfo@CharmCityKarate.com.

8 Problems With "Self Defense"

  1. Lack of belief in the actual technique
  2. Retention of the technique itself
  3. No hands-on realistic training
  4. Lack of real world atmosphere for training
  5. System being taught is outdated
  6. Frustration during training - can't get the technique right
  7. Time allotted to learn was not enough for the curriculum being taught
  8. Unqualified instructors - no proven track record
